BAS also runs a culture project in cooperation with Forum.“When you want to enjoy music, dancing, drawings, comics, handicrafts and drama, just move to Beit Atfal Assumoud and you will be fascinated by the creativity and beautiful works of its children. To activate our children’s brain mechanisms, BAS make the diverse art activities available for children in the Palestinian camps. These activities are provided since they have a very positive impact on the behavioral and emotional growth of the children. By these activities, the children can express their feelings; describe what is going on around them and on top gives brightness and joy to their di cult life”“The high participation in the activities is an indicator of the children’s interest. There is also a need to socialize outside the limited space of their houses. Art and cultural activities have become a constant agenda in the activities” (BAS website).The Family Guidance center (FGC) in Al Bas camp, TyreFGC in Al Bas is one of three BAS centers providing support for the local community through the following programs:• Family Happiness Project• Mental Health Care Program• Psychosocial Support Program• Empowerment of Marginalized CommunitiesSome of the art workshops described in this report have been carried out at Al Bas FGC in Tyre in cooperation with the social workers.Maarouf Saad Sosial and Cultural Foundation, SaidaMaarouf Saad Social and Cultural Foundation (MSSCF) provide educational, health, and social servicesto all underprivileged communities in Saida. Operating without discrimination and with special attention to vulnerable groups, the organization strives to spread human and citizenship rights awareness within the communities it services.MSSCF is running two primary schools, three primary healthcare units and one community outreach center. MSSCF creates social development programs in partnership with the local community, encouraging their participation through initiatives tailored to their needs. These include healthcare, community awareness and social assistance programs, as well as children’s summer activities (MSSCF’s website).The Mada Center in SaidaThe Mada Center is a community outreach center for Learning, Participation, and Development.The center is a learning and multi-activity space, receiving people from the local community. Thecenter provides training to mothers of children with special needs, including the mothers of MSSCF schoolchildren, and others living in marginalized communities. In addition, the center runs classes of popular education for young refugees from Syria.22
